Thank you for your interest in an internship with Alex Shoor for San Jose City Council District 6.
Because we are a grassroots campaign, this is an unpaid internship. We can sign off on community service hours for school and provide references in the future.
Responsibilities for each intern will vary with a goal of a mutually beneficial experience - opportunities for interns to learn about the campaign and develop skills, and and assistance to the campaign. Ideally, roles of each intern will evolve over time as they take on more responsibility or fill in occasional gaps where needed.
Required Responsibilities for All Interns:
Possible Responsibilities for Interns: A question on this survey will ask which of these you are interested in.
Interns are expected to commit through Election Day, March 5 with a follow up conversation after March 6.
If you are unable to make the full commitments but want to volunteer on the campaign, we encourage you to fill out the survey anyway and/or sign up via alexshoor.com/volunteer.
Please answer each question in the survey below. It is ok if your answer changes later on - we will be clear on what is a hard commitment vs a soft commitment during the onboarding process and throughout the internship.
The application process includes this quick survey, a casual chat with the Campaign Manager (Elysa) about responsibilities and a plan, and a confirmation email summarizing that discussion.
Question #7 asks for a link to a PDF of a resume. This is optional for high school students and required for college students or non students.
Question #9 is Which three pillars within the 6 priorities are your favorite? (150ish words max). You can find Alex's 6 priorities, each of which have multiple pillars, at alexshoor.com/priorities.
There are 10 questions total
Interns will share a Google account for emails, Drive, and Google Voice.
